Be Aware there are two in Wisconsin Dells.Go to the one on Wisconsin Dells Parkway. Always made to feel very welcome and great food. Owned by the ex-husband. DO NOT go to this one on Munroe Ave, below was our experience yesterday. Hostess and waitress were awesome but lady owner rudest ever! We went to Howie's Huge Breakfast, the one out of town toward Wal-Mart. We had been at the one on the strip a number of times and always great. Half of our party was there with the rest to be there shortly. We sat in one booth and they had the other booth set up for them and we said they will be here soon. The waitress and hostess had no problem with that. Then this older lady came over and said we can't keep that booth tied up and if we need to use it we will need to use it. We said they will be here shortly. We had just gotten our drinks so two of us decided we would sit it that one, right behind us until they came. There were at least three other booths still open, with no one waiting. Then she came back over to us and said are you going to just keep sitting here and not order and tie up three booths? I said we only have two. She said something else and I finally looked at her now feeling very harassed and said do you want our business?. She said no I don't if you aren't going to order now. Other two heard all of this as I am sure most everyone in the restaurant and said Lets pay for our drinks and leave. We really had only been there maybe five minutes or so and had not even had time yet to even really look at the menu. The waitress was walking by with drinks for someone else and she said don't worry about it I will get them and apologized for that. We said no you shouldn't have to do that. We waited for her to come with our bill but didn't so we walked up to the hostess and said we wanted to pay for our drinks. She too was apologizing and said that lady was the owner. I said she is a terrible business owner. I then asked if this one was the same owner as the one on the strip. She said no her ex-husband and laughed. I said I can see why they are divorced. The waitress came over again and they both said a number of times how embarrassed they were and how sorry. We said it is not your fault and I said I am sorry for you working for her. She said it is tough some days. So once again DO NOT PATRONIZE THIS WOMAN'S BUSINESS!!!!!

I was excited to try this place. It looked like the place where the locals go in a touristy area. But nothing was really good here. -The Denver Omelet had lunch meat for ham - I was going to send the biscuits and gravy back because I couldn't see the biscuits at all they were so small - the French toast was nothing to look it. - the portions were really small, overall When I go out to breakfast I expect to have too more food and larger portions, even if that means throwing in an orange slice for garnish. A side of toast or pancakes, all that good stuff that I shouldn't be eating. This place had none of that.

As a family of four we ordered our fave breakfast item: biscuits and gravy, corned beef hash, chicken fried steak and chocolate chip pancakes. We were all very happy with our choices...made to order and delicious. Even though my chicken fried steak was actually chicken fried chicken, I was very happy with it, seasoned just right, crunchy on the outside, moist on the inside and my eggs over medium were made just perfectly. This is a true diner breakfast place.

DO NOT GO HERE! They charged my account for $237.00 instead of 23.70 they were very unapologetic and tried to laugh off the situation. After putting up a fight we finally got our refund. They did not do the civil thing and refund us for our meal as well. I have been to the dells countless times and this is by far the rudest place I have ever been. Horrible! Not even worth the 1 star. Avoid at all costs.

My original breakfast plans fell through because my nav unit failed me but I always have a back up plan so I ended up here and probably for the better. As I sat there looking at the menu I heard every group get at least one biscuits and gravy so they know something I don't, see my pictures. The place isn't much to look at and looks like it's been around for a while. The staff was great and I ordered the biscuits and gravy with hash browns. The food came quick. The hash browns were crisp all the way through and not my style but good. The biscuits and gravy were killer. Were are talking thick gravy with plenty of crumbled sausage to the last bite and if I had privacy I would have licked the plate to be honest. They don't skimp on the gravy either because after the last piece of biscuit was done I was still forking up the gravy. There is also a wonderful fresh meat market attached to the restaurant, see my pictures. Overall this was the best biscuits and gravy place I have found and what a shame it's so far away. This is a perfect example of why I stay away from chains in favor neighborhood places.

We arrived and it was a little busy. After 15 min waiting we were seated, no problem. Then we sat and sat and sat, we were offered coffee refills no less than 6 times and waited for our food. Our waitress was courteous and efficient. Don't know her name, she has short blonde hair, very nice blue eyes and is a musician who plays various instruments. I found this out when she informed us that she was finishing her shift and Casey, would take over our table. We then sat more, noticed other patrons who came after us were already served. Noticing this we asked for the food and was informed that it wasn't even on the grill. Their solution with no apologies offered, was we'll take care of your drinks. MInd you this was for simple breakfast. Basically we were offered to leave as the solution. Went next door to the Mexican cafe called La Canasta Mexicana and were served in 10 minutes and their tacos and quesadillas were great. Don't bother going to Howies Restaurant

Excellent food for the price! During our Wisconsin Dells stay, we ate breakfast here multiple times. There was no wait, very attentive and friendly staff, the prices were great and the food was delicious. Stay away from the overprices chains and try this place, you won't be disappointed!

Don't let the place fool you. It might look weird but expect an awesome breakfast! We come everytime we are in the Dell's and make sure we hit it up for breakfast at least once. Biscuits and gravy and pancakes are soooo good! Forget Dennys down the street go to Howies Huge Breakfast!

I love this little restaurant. Great prices and you avoid the over crowding you get at Paul Bunyan's. The staff is very friendly. I hadn't been here in quite sometime as I had forgotten where it was. (little off the beaten path, but easy enough to find). Very glad I found it again. I'll definitely return. Prices are very cheap and you get a sizable meal as well.

We have never been so well taken care of for breakfast! The best part? They have a meat market attached to the restaurant! I'm not a huge steak and eggs person simply because you usually get a cheap nasty cut. This was better than some steaks I've been served for dinner!! I didn't have to cut anything off, ever bite more delicious and tender than the next. This is not a touristy place, legit home cooked food. Very very clean-another hard to find quality for a breakfast joint. You will not be disappointed, there are not many iced the top choices in the Dells that care about the quality of their service and food far more than their profit! Please please if you are in the Dells support this place! We need to make sure establishments like this can make it through the off-season!

Howie's is great. Simple diner food, small(ish) menu consisting of various combinations of eggs, biscuits, ham, hash browns, pancakes, and other breakfast fare. It's an unpretentious diner with a great staff and they serve breakfast staples with no unnecessary crap. Go there and order some eggs and pancakes and you'll enjoy it.

After a busy weekend at a local Dell's Resort we found Howie's Restaurant on Yelp. It was quiet, very few people there around 12:00pm. The kids enjoyed smiley-faced pancakes that were cute and tasty. The adults had corn-beef hash and biscuits and gravy. The corn-beef hash was very good and the biscuits were awesome. Gravy was a little thick but flavorful. Service was friendly and attentive. Great location and a wonderful way to break free of the chaos of the WI Dells.

Agree with another reviewer who said the service was good but the food was not. The pancakes come with syrup. I asked whether it was real maple syrup and was told that it was. It tasted and smelled like the high fructose corn syrup. Disappointed. I won't go there again.

Overall good job by Howie's. The service was great and the food was just fine. Definitely enjoyed our breakfast and enjoyed getting back to the warm indoor water park afterwards!

Stopped at Howie's due to the incredibly long wait at Mr. Pancake--will someone open up a Mrs. Pancake already? Anyhoo, the service was excellent (coffee filled up 2+) and the food was great. Just what we needed before hitting the road. I ordered the Biscuits and Gravy w/ hash browns and added two eggs. I asked for the hash browns on a separate plate from the biscuits and gravy (don't want gravy on my browns) and the two eggs over medium placed on top of the biscuits. Then I ordered a side of bacon. Some might gasp at that order and call it a prick move, but I think the waitress appreciated my enthusiasm and creativeness. And guess what? The order came out perfect and just as I asked. The bacon could have been slightly crispier, but I'll let that slide. Howie's 1. Mr. Pancake 0.

We stopped in at Howie's for breakfast because we were avoiding resort food. We had a pretty good breakfast! I can't remember the name of what I had but it was basically eggs Benedict but instead of Hollandaise sauce, it was smothered in a cheese sauce. Mmmmm! How can you go wrong with cheese sauce?! We were the only ones in the place so our waitress was super friendly and attentive. Next time we're in the Dells we'll be back!

Awesome place for breakfast in the Dells!! It doesn't get better than Howie's huge breakfast for $4.59 which includes an egg, hashbrowns, 2 pancakes, and toast. I will definitely be back!!

Slow service and they were not even that busy. The food was average if that. The food is served on plastic melamine plates! I would say it's ok at best.

Never let an omlett expert except your challenge of best damn omletts when you aren't ready for the challenge. The place wasnt crowded yet they seemingly forgot we existed. Plus the omlette wasn't much of anything special......I did like the place, cheap enough, but eh. I've had better...I think there's a rating that says that.

Best Damn Breakfast ever. Huge portions reasonable prices quick service combine into one righteous breakfast joint. Make sure you hit this place at least one day for breakfast while visiting the Wisconsin Dells!
